Astrology, like the collective unconscious with which psychology is concerned, consists of symbolic configurations: The planets are the gods, symbols of the powers of the unconscious. -Carl G. Jung
Carl Jung was the Swiss psychoanalytic and psychiatrist who was the founder of analytical psychology. He is also known for the application of astrology in the field of psychoanalysis.
The concept of psychoanalysis is developed by Dr. Sigmund Freud. The concept of psychoanalysis is dependent on the Psychoanalytic theory which states that an individual gets motivated by certain unseen forces. Freud was of the belief that the cure of psychological troubles lies in making their unconscious thoughts conscious.
Astrology is the study of the planetary movements and their impact on the human lives. Renowned psychiatrist Carl G. Jung incorporated this concept in the field of psychoanalysis.
Carl Jung came up with three very important concepts:
All of these 3 concepts are interrelated. Archetypes are the universal patterns which results from collective unconscious which is something that is shared by every human. These archetypes are inherited by individuals and influence their lives. These archetypes are manifested in the form of human behavior. Jung considered zodiac signs and planets to be archetypes.Zodiac Signs and planets have certain characteristics which have a influence on human personality and behavior. So, Jung used this to understand the depth of psyche and to understand the things which were not explained empirically.
According to Jung these archetypes can be used to understand the unconscious patterns of the psyche and personality of an individual because all the planets and zodiac signs exhibit certain characteristics and astrologically they have mighty influence on the individuals.
Carl Jung also focused on coincidences. These coincidences are based on some invisible forces that drive the humans and their surroundings. Carl Jung tried to explain certain occurrences that we call?coincidences through astrology. Carl Jung was of the view that humans already possess certain inherent knowledge and quality to be what they really are and these qualities are passed down from the ancestors; something which is called genetic memory in neuropsychology.
To explain this Jung used the concept of astrology. It's a common knowledge that astrologers believe that an individual is born to live in certain way in this life-which depends on his past lives' karma and the subsequent position of planets-which we now call Evolutionary Astrology. Synchronicity is used to define the planetary movements and their influence on our lives. There is always a pattern to all these things i.e. certain bad things will happen during specific planetary positions.Certain planetary movements define certain aspects that can be good or bad. The specific planetary movements also instill certain kinds of mindsets and situations.
